A project with artist and filmmaker Ruth Jones, involving work with existing photography and a short film that had been created with young people wearing masks in the Mammals Gallery, a Victorian exhibition space full of stuffed animals at the Manchester Museum. The primary work for this project was the projection of sections of Ruth’s other work and photography into the space of the museum gallery.
The aim was to produce a short piece of work to form the DVD contributing to a box and booklet artwork. It developed out of a project by Ruth that had formed part of the exhibition ‘Transformations’ at The Manchester Museum in 2003. She had been commissioned to make a new work that explored the themes of masks and identity, relating to the collection of masks from the British Museum on display in Manchester.
